Metrix has extensively researched and tested Gas, Water and Electricity solutions. Metrix can customise data files for direct processing of billing information.
Gas
Testing has been carried out with multiple radio and mobile phone communication technologies. Information from the gas meter reader device, either singly or in multiple configurations, is transmitted to the residential electricity meter wirelessly. This in turn transmits the data to the Metrix back office. Manual gas meter readings will soon be a thing of the past, which will result in cost-efficiencies. Transducers for many types of gas meters have been trialled with success and are now ready for field deployment.
Water
Testing of water meters and the collection of volume water flows for data processing has been undertaken in a controlled testing laboratory. Data is wirelessly transmitted from the water meter transducer to the Elster gRex meter, using proprietary hardware and software. This is an exciting development phase, which has tremendous potential in tracking household water usage profiles and eliminating the need for site visits to read meters.
