Meter Equipment Leasing
In the Auckland region Metrix leases as well as owns a large amount of metering equipment. This includes non-smart meters, load control relays, current and voltage transformers, and smart meters.
Non-Smart Meters
Metrix leases non-smart meters to retailers which are typically read monthly. There are several types of non-smart meters in use including Ferris disk, Electronics and 3 phase meters. Most of these eventually will be replaced with smart meters in the future.
Load Control Relays
Metrix leases load control relays to retailers. These form part of a load management system to enable the local lines company to manage their system peaks.
Current and Voltage Transformers
Current and voltage transformers are used to measure energy consumption of large industrial customers. They allow meters to sense the power flowing through large supply cables.
Smart Meters
Metrix is gradually deploying smart meters in the Auckland region. These will be used by retailers to remotely gather meter readings.
